Grand Canyon National Park

So, you might be thinking....ok, Grand Canyon--everyone wants to go there.  True.  But it is so worth it if you are a lover of nature.  I have heard some people say, "yeah, it's just a big hole in the ground."  But then I remind myself that some people are simply not impressed by the grandeur and beauty of the natural world.  All Good.  Moving on...In a nutshell, there is the North Rim and the South Rim.  South Rim is more crowded and is open year round.  The North Rim is less crowded, higher in elevation, so cooler, and is not open from mid October-late May.  Both are seriously worth visiting.  They have different feels to them.

We have made many trips to the GC.  One of our favorite family trips was spending a few days at the South Rim campground.  We had a blast.  We had our bikes and we rode EVERYWHERE.  There is a bike path that you can ride to breakfast, lunch, dinner, hiking, shuttle bus, etc.  The campground is HUGE.  Bryan actually zoomed in with Google Earth to find us the most shaded spot possible!  Wow, it worked and it was a score.  Granted he made the reservation way in advance...a must with all these parks.  The North Rim is more spread out.  The village at the North Rim is cool, laid back, chill.

We have also done  the Rim to Rim hike.  Bryan and Isabella did a backpacking Rim to Rim and Bryan and I did a one day Rim to Rim.  We actually then turned around the next day to hike back but we broke up the return hike  two days.  For more information, click here!
